Ingredients
- 250 g shelled walnuts
- 150 g blanched almonds
- 125 g raw, unsalted, shelled pistachios
- 100 g granulated sugar
- 150 g unsalted butter, melted
- 200 g honey
- 4 tbsp orange blossom water
- 10 sheets phyllo pastry (phyllo dough)
Preparation Time :
Total Time: 40 minutes Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes

1. Prepare the Filling
Coarsely chop the walnuts, almonds, and pistachios in a food processor. Do not process them into a fine powder; they should remain in small, crunchy pieces. Transfer the chopped nuts to a bowl, then add the granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of orange blossom water, and 100 g of melted butter. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
2. Prepare the Butter
Melt the remaining 50 g of butter and set it aside. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
3. Assemble the Baklava
Trim 5 sheets of phyllo pastry to fit your baking dish. Keep the remaining sheets covered with a damp kitchen towel to prevent them from drying out.
Brush each phyllo sheet generously with melted butter and layer them in the bottom of the baking dish. Spread half of the nut filling evenly over the pastry.
Add another 5 buttered phyllo sheets, then spread the remaining nut filling evenly on top.
4. Bake

Layer the remaining 5 buttered phyllo sheets over the second layer of filling. Lightly sprinkle the surface with ground cinnamon.
Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamonds or squares, slicing all the way through to the bottom of the pan.
Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the phyllo pastry is golden brown and crisp.
5 – Prepare the Honey Syrup :

In a small saucepan, gently heat the honey with 2 tablespoons of orange blossom water over low heat until the mixture is warm and smooth. Do not let it boil.
Slowly drizzle the warm honey syrup evenly over the freshly baked baklava, allowing it to soak into every layer.
Let the baklava cool completely, then leave it to rest for at least 24 hours before serving. This resting time allows the syrup to fully absorb, creating perfectly crisp, flavorful layers and the rich, authentic taste of traditional baklava.
6 – Serving :

Cut the baklava into individual pieces in advance and place each piece in a small paper cupcake liner for an elegant presentation. This traditional serving method makes the pastries easier to handle and serve, whether for Ramadan, Eid celebrations, family gatherings, or special occasions. Enjoy at room temperature with mint tea or Arabic coffee for an authentic gourmet experience.
Chef’s Tips & Secrets for Perfect Baklava
Creating exceptional baklava is all about patience, precision, and quality ingredients. Follow these professional tips to achieve crisp, golden, and perfectly syrupy baklava every time.
✔ Use High-Quality Phyllo Dough
Keep the phyllo pastry covered with a slightly damp kitchen towel while assembling the baklava. Phyllo dries out very quickly, making it difficult to work with and causing it to crack.
✔ Chop the Nuts Coarsely
Do not grind the nuts into a fine powder. Small, crunchy pieces provide the perfect texture and create beautiful, distinct layers inside the baklava.
✔ Butter Every Layer
Brush each sheet of phyllo generously with melted butter. This is the secret to achieving flaky, crispy, golden layers after baking.
✔ Cut Before Baking
Always cut the baklava into diamonds or squares before placing it in the oven. This allows the pastry to bake evenly and makes it easier for the syrup to penetrate every layer.
✔ Bake Until Deep Golden Brown
Avoid underbaking. The pastry should be evenly golden brown and crisp to maintain its texture after absorbing the syrup.
✔ Pour Warm Syrup Over Hot Baklava
For the best results, pour the warm honey syrup over the freshly baked baklava. The temperature difference helps the syrup soak evenly throughout the pastry without making it soggy.
✔ Let It Rest
Patience is essential. Allow the baklava to rest for at least 24 hours before serving. This resting period allows the flavors to develop and the syrup to fully infuse the layers.
✔ Store Properly
Store baklava in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Avoid refrigeration, as it can soften the crisp layers.
Chef’s Secret
For an even richer flavor, add a pinch of ground cinnamon and a few drops of fresh lemon juice to the honey syrup. The lemon juice helps balance the sweetness while preserving the syrup’s smooth texture, giving your baklava a beautifully glossy finish and an authentic gourmet taste.
